Dr Faisal Sultan hopes Pakistan will be polio-free by 2023

Pakistan will finally bid a much-awaited goodbye to the menace of polio this year. “We be polio-free by 2023,” promised SAPM Dr Faisal Sultan.

At a visit to Dera Ismail Khan Thursday, he lauded polio workers and their “splendid efforts”.

Dr Sultan requested polio teams to educate people about the Sehat Cards and its facilities when they visit houses for the vaccination. “People will respect and appreciate all polio workers only through awareness.”

Sehat Card will be provided health insurance of Rs1 million to the underprivileged. They will be provided free medical treatment at any private and public hospitals.

The special assistant encouraged parents to get their children administered and cooperate with the polio teams. “These people are the real heroes and I want to salute them for the jobs they do.”

This year’s first polio immunisation campaign started across the country on January 24. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, over 3.4 million children would be inoculated against polio during the campaign.
